Ever wondered what happens before our nannies arrive in Verbier each December, ready to meet your family on the slopes? A whole lot of preparation goes on behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly, and it all starts as soon as the last season ends.

At the end of each winter, we ask eash of our nannies to complete an end of season feedback form so we can fully understand how they felt when working with us. It’s so important to us to get feedback from both families and nannies that we work with. We then sit down as a core team and look at what worked over the winter season, what we can improve, and where we can do better. We keep learning, evolving, and making sure we’re always up to date with the needs of families and our team.

After that comes the summer season. This is a mix of keeping on a core team to work in Verbier & Zermatt, travel nanny bookings, helping families with holidays, and (for me) spending as much of the summer holidays with my three kids as possible. However the winter is always on our minds and we start to take bookings for the following winter before the season has ended.

Interviews for the next season start in August, and we put so much time and effort into recruitment as finding the best nannies is the core of what we do and how we have such a great and lasting reputation. We usually have at least 350 applications and we carefully select around 16 nannies, including our wonderful returners as well as a team of babysitters. For us, it’s not just about experience, though this is hugely important. We’re looking for personality, energy, and that special spark that makes a nanny a perfect fit for Petit Verbier. After over 10 years of recruiting nannies we can confidentily say we have refined our process and know exactly what we’re looking for when it comes to finding fantastic nannies.

From September through November, four of our core team members are deep into winter prep. That means connecting with our hotel and chalet partners, planning events, and running our detailed onboarding process (yes, we get to know each nanny before they even arrive in resort). By early December, we’re ready to go. The whole team comes together for induction week, where we set the tone for the season, train, and most importantly, build that sense of community that makes Petit Verbier so special.

So when you see our nannies arriving full of energy and ready for fun- know that there’s months of planning, care, and a whole lot of passion that’s gone into making it happen!

✨ If you’d like to see a familiar face again this season, or you have a particular nanny request in terms of languages or skills, now is the time to book. With such a small, handpicked team, availability fills quickly, and we’d love to secure your dates nice and early.
