Nanny Blog: Amelia

Hey! My name is Amelia and I first came to Verbier in the Winter Season of 2018 to do a seasonal job at Les Elfes International Camp. It came to be that I liked Verbier so much that I continued to stay for the spring, the summer, the Autumn, the next Winter … and, as the story often goes, Switzerland quickly became a second home to me!

Having worked with children for the majority of my working life, it seemed only natural to then go on to start as a part-time Nanny at Petit Verbier in the winter of 2019 before committing to being a full-time Nanny in the Winter of 2021. When working as a part-time nanny, I also worked for the Verbier Language School teaching children of all nationalities and ages, as well as going to work with children in Nepal and Egypt on behalf of Les Elfes. After working in all these different jobs, I developed strong skills in supporting children within different age ranges, and became passionate about providing the best child care and learning environments for children. Working for Petit Verbier, in particular, has certainly made me appreciate and learn the dedication and skills that it takes to creating a stimulating, encouraging, safe atmosphere for each child’s individual needs.

As sad as I am to leave Petit Verbier, I’m very excited for my next step – working as a teaching assistant for the Verbier International School. My next big goal is to go back to university to gain my PGCE qualification so that I can go on to become a teacher within a Swiss International School, so making the move to VIS to a step closer to what I’d like to go as an end goal.
